Why Marriage?

The lounge at Marriage: couch, magazines and the deck wall

Why Marriage?

"It's like a marriage and it's the longest commitment I've ever had to anything in my life."

Ronnie Campone, owner, on skateboarding

Marriage is a skate shop at 1616 Sunset Blvd in Echo Park, run by Ronnie Campone, a New York skater, and his wife Kat Typaldos. Ronnie picked the name so nobody would guess it was a skate shop: "It had to be something to make people be like, what is this? Marriage? What the hell is that?"

Inside you'll find the hardware skaters actually ride, a wall of hats, and our own tees, screen-printed in the back in small runs. The shop decks are custom painted and hand screened here, each one a one-off. Skate it or hang it.

"A spot for the kids to hang out after school, where people in the skateboard world can pop in and say, 'what's up?' There's a couch, there's a TV."
